New riding requirements and pricing for 2008
As you can imagine, keeping a high liability business open can be costly. Our initial search left us thinking the park would only be open for racing this season. The words "kids on motorcycles" make insurance agents hang up the phone and lawyers start asking questions. Near the beginning of the race season a solution was reached. We have had to switch our insurance for the upcoming season. We have instituted a new membership fee to help keep the park open for practice due to the excessive rise in insurance costs. This change will affect what is required of you to ride at Motosports Park. Some prices went up, and some went down. So here goes:
An AMA card is no longer required to ride at Motosports Park. We think anyone who rides a motorcycle or ATV should be a member, but we no longer require it. An AMA card is still required to race and you can always sign up at the track.
A membership to Motosports Riders Club will be mandatory for all riders. The cost of 2008 season membership is $30
A day pass to ride during the week and Saturday is $20
A day pass to ride on Groomed track Sunday is $30
A rider liability release must be completed before each ride
Trails and trail riding.
Unfortunately due to increased security at the Byron Nuclear Plant all trails have been closed. There are no plans to re-open any of the trails at this time. Riding at Motosports Park is limited to "on track" riding only. If this situation changes look for an update here. There are small areas away from the track where a beginner can learn to ride.
All minors must be accompanied by a parent or DOCUMENTED LEGAL GUARDIAN. An appointed guardian is responsible for a minor. Minor rider safety is the responsibility of the natural or appointed guardian. Documentation consists of a notarized form giving legal guardianship of the minor to an adult over age 18 that is signed by all parties. Minors will not be allowed to ride without proper documentation. Guardian must be present with a minor throughout the time he/she is riding. Click HERE for an accepted minor release.
Motorcycles and ATV’s are allowed to use the track. Motosports Park runs an Open Practice session. Any registered rider can ride the track during park hours. Corner workers and safety personnel are not provided. Rider safety is contingent upon his/her good judgment.
All vehicles must have a silencer and be in safe running order. Rider vehicles are not tech inspected. It is the responsibility of the rider to keep his/her machine operating safely. We recommend that all ATV’s have "nerf" bars and a tether engine stop switch.
Full safety gear is recommended, however a helmet, goggles, gloves, boots, long pants, and long sleeve jersey are minimum requirements.
